We firstly changed the effect to black and white as this is what we wanted our photo to do. We did this by opening the photo in PhotoShop and putting it to black and white effect:
We did not have a large extent of font research as we already knew what we wanted from previous research. We wanted the font to be simple, we wanted it to stand out on the page however not over power the photo of Alice. We also wanted it to be similar to Adele's font in her album '21'. As a group we decided that we liked the first five fonts and needed to develop from these.
We then compared our font research to Adele's. We realised from comparing both hers and our fonts that Adele's was a lot more thinner and precise and the fonts we have chosen are a lot thicker, however we felt that our font was more fitting for our front cover. We want to use colour somewhere on the front cover and we thought we may do this on the font like Adele has as the '21' on the name is a pale green.
To keep continuity we then put the album cover name in the same font as we wanted these to have the same font so that it was in keeping with the whole CD cover. As we wanted to include some colour we decided to edit it to a red font to see if this would work well with the rest of the cover.
At first we wanted to place the title of the album in the top right corner, much like Rihanna's, but when putting it there we realised that we did not like where it was placed and felt it looked slightly unprofessional as it felt we were just trying to fill a blank space.
As our title was quite long we decided to move it to the bottom of the page and spread it out along the bottom so it looked less squashed and was easier to read. We also just wanted to use an 'A' instead of Alice's whole name much like Rihanna has used in her 'Rated-R' album. We would then use the 'A' in the top right corner instead of the album name.
Throughout this making period we have made sure to go back to research to compare, making sure that it correlates, concentrating on where the text is.
As a group we decided that the red did not look professional being on the album name as there was too much colour and we only wanted a subtle hint. In result of this we decided to change the photo back to black and white and used the help box to guide the font into how we planned it to look.
The following photos show evidence of how we have communicated as a group when in the editing stages to make sure we all have a say of what we want to be included and what we think looks good:
After discussing we came to the conclusion that we would use the red front for the 'A' with the middle thickness font:
This is our finished front cover and we are pleased with the outcome
